This song began as little more than a sketch that I stumbled upon while aimlessly strumming my guitar and singing a melody of nonsensical syllables as I supervised my infant son's tummy time one afternoon in late 2018 or early 2019. It wasn't until I started recording it that the song started to take shape as a poppy and somewhat psychedelic freakout.

It was great fun to be so noisy and aggressive with the electric guitar parts from the middle onward, definitely inspired by some of my favorite bits by St. Vincent, Tame Impala, or Everything Everything. It also felt appropriate to throw in the extra beat here and there to alter the time signature and screw up the overwhelming simplicity.

Lyrically there's not much happening, which was quite intentional. I wanted a repetitive mantra of sorts so as not to distract from the melody and musical arrangement. The actual words just came out of my subconscious, triggered I think by the controversy over Nick Cave playing in Israel and the condemnatory criticism he received from the likes of Roger Waters and Brian Eno, a familiar media headline that had played out similarly with Radiohead a year or so prior to that. It was just one of many strange things in the rock n' roll news at that time, and clearly it was on my mind that day.
